Designing Unified Employee Experience

Background

One Cognizant is a corporate initiative to integrate all Cognizant internal applications on a single platform with an objective to enhance productivity, performance, and user experience for its 156,700+ employees.

Challenge

  • Inconsistent experience for Cognizant associates depending on the location, practice, or the vertical they operate in.
  • Multiple sign-in for different portals.
  • Inconsistency in the processes and applications.

Role

As an engagement lead, I worked directly with Chief Technology Officer and other key stakeholders from executive leadership, corporate marketing, engineering, and product management from the inception of this project to create a design strategy and rolling out the new experience to all Cognizant employees successfully. I closely collaborated with all stakeholders throughout the engagement.
I led a large team that included UX researchers, business analysts, interaction and visual designers, technical writers, and frontend developers to deliver the unified platform experience in 7 months.

Approach

The One Cognizant Platform enables employees to work more virtually and collaboratively and to share knowledge, insights, and experiences across the company’s global enterprise. This platform gives 156,700+ users highly responsive apps developed specifically to achieve 500 percent or more productivity gains while requiring minimal email alerts, training, and change management. It also enables an easy-to-use on-ramp for users to get tasks done through a single URL, thereby eliminating the need to bookmark multiple URLs for various applications. It also standardizes the method of user experience and user interface, which improves user productivity through an intuitive use of UI and usability. The One Cognizant Platform was built using the latest versions of the Microsoft stack and the latest principles of scalable architecture.

One Concierge – One Concierge enhances the experience of organizational services.

One Curator – Provides users a 360-degree view about the organization.

One Concerto – To enable an understanding of the personal behavior in the users by shifting the responsibility to the users.
